Build a website to help a local upholstery business advertise their services
Planning:
Client wanted to be able to display photos of previous works
The website was desgined to act as a guide for the user, the idea was to give the user a feeling 'walking in the store' to better connect with the business.
We agreed upon using brighter colors to keep the site feeling welcoming and inviting
Which services should be emphasized.
Figma was used to prototype certain elements
Next.js was used for ease of use and reliability.
Research:
The client's business model was studied to understand the business and its needs.
Similar businesses were studied to understand how to best present the business.
The client's target audience was used as a guideline to understand what information should be emphasized.
Implementation:
Color scheme would consist of a triad of a blue pastel color, each with a darker tone alternative. Computed mixtures would be used for other emphasized components.
Shades and shadows were utilizes to create a layered 3d effect.
The site follows a simple layout with descriptive text.
Polishing:
Accessibility, Resposiveness and SEO
Each part of the site was modified to make certain parts look clickable, and link towards relevant areas of the site.
Text, descriptions, and images were organized and optimized to allow google search indexing to have desired index preview in listings.
Site was tested using different screen sizes and browsers to site behaves predictably regardless of usage.
Production:
Launching the site
A domain and SSL certificate was obtained for the site.
Netlify was chosen to host the site for ease of deployment, ease of update, among other time saving features.
Site was set up to be indexed by google, while also launching a small advertising campaign to assist with visibility.
